Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata was an Indian philanthropist and entrepreneur who founded the Tata Group and is also known as the Father of Indian Industries.
Jamsetji Tata was born in a Parsi Zoroastrian family to Nusserwanji and Jeevanbai Tata on March 03, 1839, in Navsari, a city in southern Gujarat. He was the first businessman of this family who started with a small cotton mill which he developed from one of the bankrupt mills in Mumbai and slowly established a strong cotton trading industry.
Jamsetji Tata was the first entrepreneur in the country, who recognised the effects of the industrial revolution on India. There were many dreams of Jamsetji Tata, which, unfortunately, he could not fulfil as he suddenly died on 19 May 1904. After his death, his son Ratanji Tata and Dorabji Tata took over the Tata Group.
