2023-02-20 Mon

On February 20, 1987, Arunachal Pradesh was admitted as a full-fledged state of India. Arunachal Pradesh is located in North Eastern India, and was also known as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA), administered by the state of Assam. In the native language, the name Arunachal means "Land of Dawn Light Mountains," and in Sanskrit, it refers to the Land of the Rising Sun.

The state capital of Arunachal Pradesh is Itanagar. In terms of land size, it is the largest of the seven sister states of Northeast India. In accordance with the 55th Amendment Act of the Indian Constitution of 1986, it was created as a distinct state alongside the state of Mizoram.

India post issued this commemorative stamp in 2022 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of Arunachal Pradesh.
