Mahashivratri is a Hindu festival celebrated in honour the deity Shiva in India. This festival symbolizes the wedding of the deities Shiva and Paravati; the occasion on which Lord Shiva performs his divine dance, known as Tandava (Shiv Tandava).Shivratri is a Night of Shiva observed on the night before the new moon. Shivratri has a significant meaning, which includes fasting and praying all night. Mahashivratri commemorates the triumph of light over darkness in life.
