Sir Henri Charles Wilfrid Laurier was a Canadian lawyer, statesman, politician, and the seventh prime minister of Canada between 1896 and 1911.The 15-year tenure of this first French Canadian Prime Minister was the longest unbroken term of office among Canadian prime ministers. He is best known for his compromises between English and French Canada.
The Bank of Canada issued Canadian Dollar banknotes in 6 different denominations. Bank of Canada started issuing these 5 Canadian Dollar banknotes in 2013. They are currently still in circulation. The obverse side of this banknote features Wilfrid Laurier. The reverse side of this banknote features the robot arm ‘Canadarm2’ and an astronaut.
