Laos, officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic is a socialist state and the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia.The Bank of the Lao PDR issued Kip banknotes in 8 different denominations, including this 5 Lao Kip. They are part of the withdrawn Lao Kip banknote series. The Bank of the Lao PDR started issuing these 5 kip banknotes in 1979.
On the obverse national emblem is depicted on the right; while a group of shoppers and a clerk at counter in a government store in center. On the reverse elephant and tree logs are depicted in center.
