Japan issued 1,000 Yen coin in 2022 to mark the 150th anniversary of the railways' inauguration.

The obverse of the coin features a design based on a part of a Nishiki-e (color woodblock print) of the Takanawa Railway,created by artists Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and Utagawa Toshinobu.

The reverse of the coin features image of restored Old Shimbashi Station and is marked with the theme "150th anniversary of railway opening" and the coin's value and the current year in the Reiwa era.
