Commemorative Postage Stamp of Lala Kamlapat Singhania

On November 7, 1884, Lala Kamlapat Singhania was born. He established the JK organization thanks to his keen business sense and vision. He created the JK Cotton Spinning & Weaving Mills Co Ltd. on Indian soil in June 1920 after finding that a cotton textile mill with 40000 spindles and 100 looms from the United Kingdom was available in Mumbai. This mill produced "Swadeshi" grade items from Indian Cotton.He set up various new industries and enterprises between 1921 and 1934, drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's Swadeshi movement, which significantly aided the development of Indian industry and sparked the nation's common man's entrepreneurial spirit.
To advance higher education in the area, he founded the Marwari College in Kanpur after realizing that only knowledge can free the mind and empower the next generation.
