On this day, Marie and Pierre Curie discovered the radioactive chemical element Radium in 1898. Both Marie and Pierre Curie made history after discovering this element. They not only made a discovery of new elements but also added one new element to the periodic table, for which they shared the Nobel Prize in Physics. Marie Curie was the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize. She was also the first person and the only woman to win Noble Prize twice and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two scientific fields.Guinea issued this commemorative stamp on Marie and Pierre Curie in 2018. This stamp depicts the picture of Marie and Pierre Curie working in a lab. The face value of this stamp is 12,500 GFr - Guinean franc.
