Commemorative Stamp of Calavala Cunnan Chetty

Calavala Cunnan Chetty was born in the Calavala family in 1869. When he took over his family business, due to his persevering efforts and business acumen, he took Messrs King and company to great heights, which simultaneously earned him great wealth and fame. He spent his wealth magnanimously on noble deeds of charity, considering wealth as merely ephemeral, which will not accompany us after our death. As a result, he established several charitable institutions and endowed large sums of money to those in dire need of it.Most of his charity was given to the educational institutions of the country as he was a firm believer of education will transform the lives of the people from the depths of poverty.
On August 24, 2019, India Post released the commemorative stamp as the 150th birth anniversary of Dharmamurthi Rao Bhahdur Calavala Cunnan Chetty also making us acknowledge the philanthropic deeds done for the upliftment of our country.
