2022-12-09 Fri

Ice Hockey belongs to the sports family of Hockey. It is a team sport usually played on ice skates on an ice skating rink with specific markings according to the game. In Ice hockey, there are two opposing teams, and the players use ice hockey sticks to control, advance and shoot. A closed rubber disc called a ‘puck’ to score goals. Each goal is worth one point, and the team with the most goals is declared the winner. There are six skaters and of them is the goaltender.

Ice hockey was first time played in Canada on 3rd March 1875. The game was played in the 1920 Summer Olympics, the first time in Olympics.

The International Ice Hockey Federation (IHF) governs The IIHF World Championship for both men's and women's competitions. Ice Hockey is one of the sports to be played in the Winter Olympics. In 1994, Ice Hockey got recognition as the national sport of Canada.
