Swami Haridas Commemorative Stamp

Swami Haridas was a spiritual poet and classical musician; he used to compose all his poems in the Dhrupad style. He founded the Haridasi School of mysticism during the medieval period.Swami Haridas was born in 1480 CE in Rajpur near Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh. At the age of 25, he adopted sanyas, came to Vrindavan and built his ashram. Most of his poems, are dedicated to the immortal love between Radha and Krishna. Haridas was a direct disciple of father of Carnatic Music Purandara Dasa of Karnataka. Songs composed by him are classed as Vishnupadas.
The Government of India issued his commemorative stamp in 1985 to commemorate him and his work.
