Apple trees are cultivated worldwide and are the most widely grown species in the genus Malus. Apple has various varieties of names and types. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii. Apples have been cultivated for a millennium in Asia and Europe and were brought to North America by European colonists.

In a definitive stamp, United States of America issued on 06 March 2001; series are fruits. The colours used are Multicolor. Printing is in Offset lithography. Gum is Self-Adhesive. Face value is 34 ¢ - United States cent.
