Lebanon 1 Livre Banknote

Lebanon issued this 1 Livre banknote in 1964 and was in circulation until 1993. The banknote features Columns of Baalbek. Baalbek is a historical site located east of the Litani River, in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley, about 67 km (42 mi) northeast of Beirut. Baalbek contains the ruins of the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of Jupiter. In 1984 this site was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.The reverse side of Lebanon 1 Livre Banknote features Jeita Grotto, a system of two separate but interconnected karstic limestone caves. Jeita Grotto is in the Nahr al-Kalb valley, about 18 kilometers north of the Lebanese capital Beirut.
