Raja Ravi Varma was an Indian painter and artist. Raja Ravi Varma is known as the father of painting. He is known as one of the greatest painters in India. He is also the first Indian oil painter. He is from Cochin, Kerala. His art makes a real touch to the art. Ravi Varma introduced oil paint in India.The definitive stamp of Maharaja Raja Ravi Varma was issued in 1946, with the watermark of the Government of Cochin. The face value of this stamp is two pies. The stamp, printed in lithography, has Cochin Anghal written in Malayalam Brahmi script. Numerical 2, written in Roman on the centre left side and in Malayalam Brahmi script on the centre right side with some design beside the maharaja.
