Half-Rupee of Mughal Empire Ruler Murad Bakhsh

Murad Bakhsh was the youngest son of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, born in 1627. He was the youngest amongst his entire sibling, and favorite of his elder siblings.Murad Bakhsh was appointed as Subedar of Multan in 1642 and continued to remain as a Subedar until, replaced by his elder brother Emperor Aurangzeb in 1647. In 1657 Murad Bakhsh declared himself Emperor at Ahmadabad.
This silver half rupee was issued by 1657 Murad Bakhsh during his rule in Mughal Empire. This silver half rupee, that weighs around 5.68g, was minted in Surat. The obverse side of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Murad Bakhsh with the mint name. The reverse side of this coin depicts Kalima.
