Muhammad Anwar El-Sadat was an Egyptian politician and military officer. He served Egypt as its third president of Egypt, from 15 October 1970 until his assassination by fundamentalist army officers on 6 October 1981. He is remembered for trying to make peace with Israel.

Anwar Sadat is best known for the peace negotiation of Egypt with Israel, for which he received Noble Prize for Peace with Israeli Prime Minister Meacham Begin. in 1978. On the 6th of October 1981, he was murdered by one of the people who were opposed to his policy of reconciliation with Israel and his close links with the United States.
