The Summer Olympics of 1992 was held in Barcelona, Spain. From Brazil, 182 competitors took part in 107 events in 23 sports. Out of 182 competitors, 132 were men and 50 were women. Brazilian achieved 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

The list of the sports where Brazilians have participated are Archery, 100m metres run, 4 × 400 m Relay, marathon, hurdles, walk, triple jump, decathlon, basketball, boxing, canoeing, cycling, diving, equestrianism, fencing, gymnastics, handballs, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling.

The swimmer Gustavo Borges won a silver medal in men’s 100-meter freestyle. The judoka Rogerio Sampaio won the gold medal in the men's 65 kg category. For the first time ever, Brazil men’s volleyball team won a first gold medal. The team won all eight matches of the tournament.
