The Reserve Bank of Australia issued these 10 Australian Dollars in 1974. The series of such banknotes were issued in eight different denominations. The Reserve Bank of Australia started issuing these 10 Australian Dollar banknotes in 1974. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1991.

The obverse side of this banknote depicts Francis Greenway and the reverse side of this banknote depicts Henry Lawson.

Francis Greenway was an architect of Australia; he worked for the Governor, Lachlan Macquarie, as Australia's first government architect. He admired his work and created building such as St Matthew's Church in Windsor, New South Wales, St James' Church, Sydney, and Hyde Park Barracks, Sydney.

Henry Lawson was an Australian writer and poet. He is best known for Australian poets and fiction writers of the colonial period and is often called Australia's "greatest short story writer".
