Vithalbhai Patel was an Indian legislature and political leader; he was the co-founder of the Swaraj Party and elder brother of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the 'Iron Man of India'. He is a lesser-known politician in the Indian freedom struggle, but he played a vital role and has an eminent position in the entire freedom movement.

Vithalbhai Patel opposed Mahatma Gandhi's decision to abandon the Non-Cooperation Movement with the occurrence of the Chauri Chaura tragedy. After the Chauri Chaura movement and with the end of the Non-cooperation movement in 1922, he established his party named 'Swaraj Party', along with Chittaranjan Das and Motilal Nehru. The basic aim of this party was to enter the councils and abolish the government run by the British.

Vithalbhai Patel was elected as a member of the Central Legislative Assembly in 1923. Later, joined congress and started his struggle for India's Independence. Although he did get much support from the Indian people, he manages to influence people with his fiery and powerful speech and articles published in the newspapers.
