Blood is a constantly circulating fluid that provides the body with nutrition and oxygen and waste removal. It is a precious therapeutic modality since it is obtained from human sources. Blood is a component that cannot be manufactured in factories. A Human being can only donate blood to another human being.Blood transfusion is an indispensable component of health care. Every year it saves millions of lives. Blood transfusion saves lives and improves health, but many patients requiring transfusion do not have timely access to safe blood.
Blood consists of the fluid-like substance called Plasma. Plasma is made up of about half of the content of the blood. Plasma contains proteins that help the blood clot, transport substances through the blood, and perform other functions. Plasma also contains glucose and other dissolved nutrients.
