2022-06-23 Thu
The National Bank of Georgia issued this 1 Lair depicting; Georgian famous Painter Nikko Pyromania in 1995. He was a true artist's artist and a prime example of the starving artist archetype.Throughout his life, he lived in poverty and often painted in exchange for food; he got his real fame only after his death. He never saw monetary success in his life, but he remained consistent in his work. Today he plays important role in contributing to the Russian Avant grade, particularly the Neo-Primitivism and Crayonist movements.
Pyromania’s legacy as a national icon in his home country was confirmed when a monument was erected in the capital city Tbilisi. The Art Museum of Georgia has gradually acquired 146 of his works.
