The National Bank of Romania issued Romanian Leu banknotes in 8 different denominations, including this 200 Romanian Lei banknote. The National Bank of Romania started issuing these 200 Romanian Leu banknotes in 2005. They are currently still in circulation.

The obverse depicts the portrait of poet Lucian Blaga along with poppy flowers, an open book featuring the Autoportret and 9 mai 1895 poems, the Coat of Arms of Romania, the name of the issuing bank, the BNR logo, banknote denomination in digits, and in words, authorized signatures of the Governor and Chief Cashier, issue date.

The reverse features the Neolithic statue of the thinker of Hamangia, a rainbow, an old water mill, banknote denomination in digits and in words, the name of the issuing bank, and the BNR logo in the upper right and lower left corners.
