The State Emblem of India is the national emblem of India and is used by the union government, many state governments, and government agencies.

The Coat of arms of India was provoked from the Sarnath Lion Capital, located at Sarnath near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, built by Indian Emperor Ashoka. Emperor Ashoka built this in 250 BC, using a single piece of polished sandstone.

The emblem depicts four lions on the top standing back to back. The base of this emblem depicts an elephant, a horse, a bull, and a lion separated by intervening wheels over a bell-shaped lotus and a Dharma Chakra or the Wheel of Law carved on it. This symbol was adopted as the National Emblem of India by the Indian Government on 26th January 1950.

The State Emblem of India is used in all types of currency notes, passports, and coins in India.
