Lesya Ukrainka on Ukrainian Banknote

Lesya Ukrainka aka Larysa Petrivna Kosach was one of Ukrainian literature's foremost writers, best known for her poems and plays. She was also an active political, civil, and feminist activist. She has been featured on 200 Ukrainian Hryvnia banknotes in 2007.The pink and purple 200 Ukrainian hryvnias banknote features Lesya Ukrainka along with an excerpt from the poem: “For the truth, brother, unite for the truth, the only way is the right path”. The Reverse side features the tower of the entrance tower of Lubart’s Castle in Lutsk and a stork in flight.
Locally known as Lubart's Castle, Lutsk Castle is the most prominent landmark of Lutsk, Ukraine. The tower began its life in the mid-14th century as the fortified seat of Gediminas' son Liubartas (Lubart), the last ruler of united Galicia-Volhynia.
