Today on May 17, 1540, Sher Shah Suri defeated Mughal Emperor Humayun in the Battle of Kanauj. Kanauj is a city; situated in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The battle of Kanauj is also known as the Battle of Bilgram. In this battle, Sher Shah Suri, the founder of the Suri Empire in India, defeated Mughal Emperor Humayun. Before the Battle of Kanauj, both Sher Shah Suri and Humayun; were involved in the Battle of Chausa. After losing the Battle of Chausa to Sher Shah Suri, Humayun had no army; he took the help of his brother Kamran Mirza and Hindal Mirza for his next battle.
Kamran Mirza denied but Hindal Mirza agreed to support Humayun. But, due to some mistakes, he lost the Battle of Kanauj also. After defeating Humayun, Sher Shah Suri dominated Delhi for next for many years and Humayun evacuated his life for the next 15 years.
