Dr. N. S. Hardikar Commemorative Stamp

Dr. N.S. Hardikar, popularly known as Narayan Subbarao Hardikar was a freedom fighter and congress politician who founded the Congress Seva Dal.Dr Dr N. S. Hardikar was born to Subbarao and Yamunabai in 1889. He completed his M. Sc in Public Health from the University of Michigan, in 1916. He was closely associated with freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai and became an active participant in many political activities in America. He became the secretary of the Home Rule League and helped organize the Indian Workers Union of America. In 1923, during Flag Satyagrah, he and his Hubli Seva Mandal gained national prominence, when they refuse to apologize to British authorities to gain a commutation in their prison sentences.
This commemorative stamp was issued by the Indian government in 1989, to commemorate him and his work.
