Syed Fazl-ul-Hasan, popularly known by his pen name Hasrat Mohani was a famous freedom fighter and renowned poet of the Urdu language. He is best known for his ghazal; "Chupke Chupke Raat Din Aansoo Bahana Yaad Hai Hamko ab tak aashiqi ka wo zamana Yaad hai…".

Hasrat Mohani was the first person to coin the slogan Inquilab Zindabad (translation of "Long live the revolution!") in 1921. He is also considered the first person to demand complete independence for India in 1921 at the Ahmedabad Session of Congress.

Hasrat Mohani was a member of the Indian National Congress for many years. He was also the founder of the communist party in India and became its president in 1919.

This commemorative stamp was issued in 2014, by the Indian government to commemorate him and his work.
