Kumaran Asan Commemorative Stamp

Kumaran Asan was a Social reformer, philosopher, and poet of Malayalam literature. He is responsible for initiating a revolution in Malayalam poems in the first quarter of the 20th century. His poems have a deep moral and spiritual evidence in Asian poetry.Kumaran Asan was one of the triumvirate poets of modern Malayalam, along with Vallathol Narayana Menon and Ulloor S. Parameswara Iyer. He was a follower of Sree Narayana Guru, so he was also involved in activities of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP) and became its secretary in 1904. He also founded Vivekodayam, a literary journal in Malayalam, and assumed its editorship.
This commemorative stamp was issued in 1973 to commemorate him and his work.
