Latvia's First Banknotes

Latvia is a country on the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Estonia. The country enjoyed a short period of peace till 17 June 1940, when the Soviet power was re-established in Latvia.The First Lat banknote of Latvia aka the first Independent Banknote was issued in the year 1923. This Green-blue banknote was issued with the denomination of 100 Latu or lats. The banknote shows a series of intricate designs on both obverse and the reverse.
The obverse of the banknote depicts the promissory note in the center with the denomination in words flanked by the denomination in numerals in a decorative vignette. The note depicts a decorative border with the number 100 five times. The Year of the issue is in the center at the bottom.
The reverse of the coin depicts two seated women in national costume in the center with a coat of arms in the middle and a house, factories, trees, and leaves in the background.
