Ulysses S. Grant was born Hiram Ulysses Grant on April 27, 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio, U.S. He was an American military officer and politician. He served the United States of America as president between 1869 and 1877.

Ulysses S. Grant is best known as a Union general who led the United States to victory over the Confederate States of America during the American Civil War. He is remembered for his remarkable talent, as a soldier and for leadership, which saved his country from falling apart.

Ulysses S. Grant after getting elected as a president of the United States of America created Justice Department for effective civil rights. He also worked with Radical Republicans to protect African Americans during Reconstruction.
