Banknote of the Year 2017

The IBNS 'Bank Note of the Year is awarded to a banknote issued during the preceding year and it is judged on artistic merit, design, and security features. The winning entry of 2017, for notes issued during 2016, is a 10 Franc note of Switzerland. This is the second consecutive year for Switzerland to win the Banknote of the Year title.

The new 10-franc note is the first denomination in a new series of notes inspired by the theme “The many facets of Switzerland. Each denomination depicts a typically Swiss characteristic, which is then illustrated graphically using a range of elements.

This gorgeous yellow vertical banknote depicts human hands conducting an orchestra with a globe showing time zones and the punctual Swiss rail system. With its main motif ‘time’, the banknote shows a conductor’s baton setting the tempo, parts of a Swiss watch, a globe with time zones, and train tables. Image Courtesy: theibns.org
