2022-04-18 Mon

The IBNS 'Bank Note of the Year is awarded to a banknote issued during the preceding year and it is judged on artistic merit, design, and security features. The winning entry of 2016, for notes issued during 2015, is a 50 Franc note of Switzerland. This is the first new design the Swiss National Bank has released in 20 years.

The new 50-franc note is the first denomination in a new series of notes inspired by the theme “The many facets of Switzerland. Each denomination depicts a typically Swiss characteristic, which is then illustrated graphically using a range of elements.

The 50-franc note focuses on the wealth of experiences Switzerland has to offer – expressed by the wind, the note’s key motif. Core design elements in the new series are the hand and the globe, which appear on every denomination. It also shows a paraglider, wind arrows, and a hand holding a dandelion blowing in the wind.
