Chakravarti Rajagopalachari was an Indian statesman, writer, lawyer, and independence activist. He had also served India as a Governor-General during the freedom struggle. He also served on a working committee of the Indian National Congress. He was the Prime Minister of the home state of Madras (now Tamil Nadu) from 1937 to 1939.
C.Rajagopalchari founded Swatantra Party in Madras in 1959. He was one of the first recipients of India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna.
C.Rajagopalachari participated against Rowlett Act, The Non-cooperation movement Civil Disobedience Movement. He was also jailed five times for his active participation between 1912 and 1941.
