2016-07-08 Fri
When a gold coin is worth $43.4 million, weighs one metric ton, measures 31.5 inches in width and 4.7 inches in thickness, security becomes a major concern. It has been publically reported at several places that the world’s biggest coin by Perth Mint is going to be showcased at the annual Diggers and Dealers mining conference which is scheduled in August at Kalgoorlie. The coin has been securely stored over the last two years and is supposed to make a grand public appearance. The event is going to attract a lot of crowd and delegates this year. The giant coin is definitely going to raise a few eyebrows and many would be eagerly waiting to take a look at it.
The conference that announced that the coin would be displayed at the event might now tempt thieves when the coin is an easily “rollable” form.
Now, after the official announcement, security would be definitely have to be scrutinised.
