Suryakant Tripathi Nirala was an Indian poet, novelist, essayist, and story-writer who wrote in Hindi. Suryakant Tripathi Nirala was inspired by famous personalities like Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekananda, and Rabindranath Tagore.

Suryakant Tripathi Nirala was born on 21st February 1897 in Medinipur in Bengal. His mother died when he was very young. Later, he was shifted to Lucknow and thence to village Gadhakola of Unnao district, to which his father originally belonged. He completed his education in the Bengali medium at Mahishadal Raj High School at Mahishadal, Purba Medinipur. He got married at the age of 20 to Manohara Devi. Soon after marriage, he started writing poems in Hindi instead of Bengali. His wife died when he was 22. In the later stage of his life, his widow daughter also expired.

The lifestyle of Suryakant Tripathi Nirala was similar to bohemian tradition. He wrote strongly against social injustice and exploitation in society.
