20 Pound Dragon Coin Celebrates the Welsh Spirit

A twenty pound silver coin was released by the royal mint depicting the Welsh Dragon to celebrate the spirit of Welsh culture and people. The collector coin is produced in the Welsh town of Llantrisant, which was operational after the Royal Mint moved from Tower Hill in London in 1968. The timing was perfect as well as Wales reached the semi finals of the 2016 Euro cup, which is considered to be the team’s best performance in 58 years.The designer of the coin Norman Sillman studied at the Royal College of Art and received his first commission from the Mint in 1958. The design also appeared on £1 coins that were issued from 1995 to 2000.
The mint officials state that the coin celebrates the excellence and craftsmanship of the Welsh workforce.
