After a lapse of 14 years, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan has begun the process of updating the design and protection of its banknotes. Azerbaijan has issued new banknotes since 1st Jan 2021. The yellow 50-manat note has the theme “Education and the Future.”
The face shows youth, a staircase symbolizing progress, the sun as a representation of force and light, and mathematical symbols representing science. A map of the country and its separate enclave of Nakhchivan is on the back along with designs from ancient Azerbaijani carpets.
This note was honored with the Best Applied Security Product award at the Excellence in Holography Awards 2021 for its use of Louisenthal’s RollingStar LEAD Mix.
