Karl Heinrich Marx was a German philosopher, a critic of political economy, economist, historian, sociologist, political theorist, journalist and socialist revolutionary. His work inspired the foundation of many communist regimes in the twentieth century. He is best known for his work, the 1848 pamphlet The Communist Manifesto and the three-volume Das Kapital (1867–1883).

Karl Marx is one of the most influential figures in human history. His writing is studied widely, but they are also controversial, as they have influenced revolutionary movements and political regimes across the decades, particularly during the 20th century. His political and philosophical thoughts are enormous; they inspire subsequent intellectual, economic, and political history.
