Swami Rama Tirtha, also known as Ram Soami, was an Indian teacher of the Hindu philosophy of Vedanta. Rama Tirtha is a Hindu religious teacher of Vedanta philosophy. He was among the first notable teachers of Hinduism to lecture in the United States (1902). During his American tour, he spoke on the concept of 'practical Vedanta. He also proposed young Indians to American universities and helped establish scholarships for Indian students.

Swami Rama Tirtha was a brilliant student, especially in Mathematics. After completing his degree, he started teaching Mathematics at Forman Christian College. It was at this stage he started developing a deep interest in spirituality. He started reading Gita and became a devotee of Lord Krishna.

The visit of Swami Vivekanand to Lahore in November 1897 was the turning point in his life. It inspired his later decision to take up the life of a sannyasi. Having become well known for his speeches on Krishna and Advaita Vedanta, he became a swami in 1899 on the day of Deepawali.
