Swami Tirunal Rama Varma was the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Travancore. He was a brilliant music composer; who created more than 400 classical compositions in both Carnatic and Hindustani style, one of the best-known musicians in the South Indian Karnatak music tradition.Swami Tirunal Rama Varma was expertise in many languages like Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Hindi, and Marathi language; besides their mother tongue. He was deeply interested in music and literature; being a ruler, he was a patron of music and was a musician himself. He was deeply attached to Carnatic music tradition.
As a ruler, Swami Tirunal Rama Varma was enlightened and liberal-minded; he introduced several lasting progressive measures and administrative reforms for effective governance.
