2022-02-25 Fri
The Qatari riyal is the currency of the State of Qatar. Until 1966, Qatar used the Indian rupee as its currency, in the form of Gulf rupees. When India devalued the rupee in 1966, Qatar, along with the other states using the Gulf rupee, chose to introduce its own currency. In December 2020, the Bank of Qatar issued a 200-riyal note which is a part of th3 5th series riyal banknotes that began in 2018.Qatar’s 5 Riyals banknote of the Fifth Series shows a desert scene with Arab horses, oryxes, and a camel. In the background is a goat-hair tent of the nomads. The Arab language side of the banknote shows a Qatari flag and an ornate door in traditional Islamic design.
