Annie Besant was a British socialist, theosophist, women's rights activist, writer, orator, educationist, and philanthropist. She was the president of the Theosophical Society from 1907 to 1932. Annie Besant also served as president of the Indian National Congress for two years, from 1917 to 1918.She had contributed significantly. Annie Besant was the leading speaker for the Fabien Society and the Marxist Social Democratic Federation (SDF). She always fought for the reasons which she thought were right. She was a creative writer and also an influential orator.
Annie Besant was a courageous lady; she was deeply involved in the Indian Independence movement and continued her campaign, to make India an Independent country. br>
The Indian government issued her commemorative stamp in 1963, to commemorate her and her works.br>
