Battle of Eylau Commemorative Stamp

The battle of Eylau is also known as the Battle of Preussisch-Eylau. It was the first great setback suffered by Napoleon on the battlefield and was a costly inconclusive battle fought in the snow in East Prussia. This battle; was fought between Napoleon's Grande Armee and the Imperial Russian Army under the leadership of Levin August von Bennigsen near the town of PreussischEylau in East Prussia.In this battle, Nepolean smashed the Russian army and kingdom of Prussia. The Kingdom of Prussia; was effectively knocked out of the Fourth Coalition, although King Frederick William III of Prussia refused to make peace and the remnants of his army pulled back into East Prussia. These left the Russians to stand alone against Napoleon in central Europe.
This commemorative stamp; was issued by Equatorial Guinea in 1977 to commemorate this event.
