The country is located on the eastern side of the Indochinese Peninsula. Vietnam shares borders with China to the north, Laos, and Cambodia to the west and maintains maritime borders with Thailand through the Gulf of Thailand, and the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia through the South China Sea. The inscribed legends on the note are ‘The Socialist Republic of Vietnam’, ‘Denomination’, ‘Vietnamese Social Bank’ and ‘Year’. The State Bank of Vietnam started issuing these 2000 Vietnamese Dong banknotes in 1988. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2006.
