King Harald V is the king of Norway; he sat on the throne of Norway in 1991, succeeding his father, Olav V.King Harald V is the third child and the only son of King Olav V and Princess Märtha of Sweden. He is the great-grandson of Edward VII of the United Kingdom and second cousin of Elizabeth II.
King Harald V was an accomplished sailor and represented his country in the yachting events at three Olympic Games (Tokyo 1964, Mexico 1968, and Munich 1972). He also participated in Sira Cup on Lake Ontario in Toronto in 2016, where his team finished in second place. On 17 January 2021, King Harald celebrated 30 years on the throne of Norway.
