The Battle of the Anglo-Zulu War; was fought between British Empire and the Zulu kingdom, was started today on 11 January 1879 CE and was ended on 4 July 1879 CE. It was a decisive six months war fought in South Africa resulting, victory of the British Empire over the Zulus.

In the second half of the 19th century, the British Empire was interested in Zulu land for several reasons. One of the main reasons was to include the Zulu population for labor work in the diamond fields of Southern Africa. British Empire wanted to create a South Africa federation in the region and Boer land claim on the territories held by the Zulu kingdom. Cetshwayo, king of Zulus, was unwilling to submit his army to British hegemony.

In December 1978, Sir Bartle Frere, A British high commissioner for South Africa ask Cetshwayo to dismantle his military system within 30 days and pay reparations for alleged insults. As this condition was impossible for the Zulu king Cetshwayo, it results in a Battle between British Empire and the Zulu kingdom.
