Ghanshyam Das Birla was an Indian businessman and a member of the Birla family. He was one of the most prominent Indian businessmen from the era when India struggled to get freedom from the British Empire. He is the founding father of the multi-billion dollar Birla Empire.

Ghanshyam Das Birla; was elected to the Central Legislative Assembly of British Indian in 1926. He also became the founding president of HarijanSevakSangh founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1932.

The Indian government issued his commemorative stamp to commemorate his 90th Birth Anniversary in 1984.
