Pablo Ruiz Picasso, one of the famous and influential artists of the 20th century, was born today in Spain; in 1881. Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and theatre designer; he spent most of his adult life in France. Due to his enormous impact on the art world, he had mass fan followers and critics alike.

Picasso created more than 20,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, and other items such as costumes and theatre sets. Universally he is renowned as one of the most influential and celebrated artists of the twentieth century.

The art of drawing was taught to him by his father, Don Jose Ruiz y Blasco. His father began to teach him drawing and painting when he was a child. When Picasso turns 13, his skills level surpassed his father. Soon, Picasso lost all desire to do any schoolwork, choosing to spend the school days doodling in his notebook instead.
