Al Azhar Mosque featured on Egyptian Note

Egypt is bordered by Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and the Gaza Strip and Israel to the east. Egypt is the third most populous country on the Africa continent. It is believed that Egypt is a cultural trend-setter of the Arabic-speaking world. They celebrate many festivals and religious carnivals, locally known as ‘mulid’.The Central Bank of Egypt issued 50 Piastres banknote in 1967. These banknotes were withdrawn from circulation in 2015. This 50 piastres banknote features the Al Azhar Mosque in Cairo, Egypt. It is equivalent to 1/2 Egyptian pounds. Legends such as ‘central bank of Egypt’ are printed on the note. Al Azhar Mosque of Egypt is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
It’s important to note that the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt announced that the Central Bank of Egypt will issue polymer notes by the beginning of 2021.
