Amitabh Ghosh served for 20 days from 15 January – 4 February 1985, as the 16th governor of the Reserve Bank of India. His term was the shortest ever served as a governor in the Reserve Bank of India. He was also appointed RBI deputy governor, served as a chairman of Allahabad Bank, Director of the IDBI Bank, and was on the governing body of the National Institute of Bank Management.

The 2 rupee note features the first satellite of India, Aryabhatt orbiting earth . Aryabhata was first India’s satellite and was named after the ancient time Indian astronomer. It was launched on 19 April 1975 from Kapustin Yar, a Russian rocket launch and development site in Astrakhan Oblast using a Kosmos-3M launch vehicle by ISRO.
